Residuary
Legatee is the title given by the author to her role as Headmaster's wife
at two well known Midland public schools. The title encompasses the multitude
of jobs the author was expected to take on which included help with the
annual school play, large scale housekeeping and the entertaining of important
guests, together with more unusual tasks such as cooking dinner for the
entire school when neither the cook nor the catering assistants turned
up for work.
The author's description of the characters she met along the way together
with her tales of a generation of youngsters for whom she acted as a stand
