Ashleigh
Road was laid out for development in 1903 by a Birmingham butcher. Most
of its 42 houses were built before the First World War and this book
records their architects, describes their inhabitants, and notes the
changes over the years, including the fall and rise in prices. One house
has never been up for sale and several others have been occupied by
the same families for over 50 years.
Born in 1934, Nigel Ian Cameron was educated at St Paul's School, London,
and Pembroke College, Cambridge. Since his retirement as Midland Director
of The Post Office, he has undertaken much genealogical and local history
research.
