Following
in the illustrious footsteps of Charles Dickens and M. R. James, Peter
Leather has written a ghost story each Christmas since 1995 for his
popular Hidden City column in The Birmingham News. The stories are entirely
fictional but based on real events and historical locations in Birmingham.
With the spookily-numbered 13th about to appear, he has produced this
compilation of the stories along with a detailed explanation of the
genuine history behind them.
Peter Leather is the Lecturer in Birmingham Studies at the University
of Birmingham and author of the books, A Brief
History of Birmingham (also published by Brewin Books) and The Buildings
of Birmingham.
