With over 300 illustrations of Birmingham in the 1950s, Alton Douglas has once again captured the post war atmosphere of the city with photographs of street scenes, city centre redevelopments, and people at work and play. The A4 format employed shows all the images to great advantage and includes contemporary advertisements and press notices which bring the 50s to life.
