When
Beryl Romano, Appeals Manager of the Birmingham Dogs Home asked us if
we could produce a fund raising book, Jo and I thought long and hard
about the subject. We decided, rather than producing a book about the
Home, that we would create a patchwork quilt of dog life in the city
over the years, thereby giving it as much variety as possible.
The Birmingham Dogs' Home itself, was founded in 1892 for "Lost
and Starving Dogs" and based in New Canal Street. The funding comes
from a wide variety of sources, such as slide shows, talks, boarding,
donations and the selling of merchandise - including, of course, this
book!
