Audrey
Duggan was educated at Olton Convent in Solihull and at the Children's
Hospital in Birmingham where she trained as an orthoptict; for
several years she ran an eye clinic at the Guest Hospital in Dudley.
Always interested in English Literature, she later obtained an
external honours degree in the discipline and also a London Guildhall
qualification in the teaching of speech and drama.
For a number of years and while she was head of an A level English
Department at a local college, she contributed to a number of
poetry magazines including Poetry Now. For 12 years she contributed
to the popular Mitre Press's 'Spring Anthology'. She also indulged
in her interest in local history and especially biography of local
people of talent.
Having taken early retirement, Audrey Duggan is at present working
on a biography of William Shenstone, the poet and landscape gardener.
