Jean Field

Jean Field

Born in Leamington Spa in 1938, Jean Field lived much of her early life in Whitnash. She attended the King's High School for Girls in Warwick and later taught in Warwickshire and London for over thirty years. She has been married for 35 years and has a daughter, a son and one grandson.

As her forebears on both sides had lived for at least several generations in the Warwick area, it was small wonder that she began writing about local history in 1990, when she took early retirement from her teaching post.

Her first book was published by Brewin Books in 1992 and altogether there have been nine books in the ten years since 1992.

Her next book is to be a novel using her experiences as a nursery stewardess on ships in the 1960's. She worked on four ships altogether including the Queen Mary and travelled to many ports including New York, Hong Kong, Tahiti, Fiji, Sydney, San Francisco, Auckland, Panama, Singapore and many more.

She is a firm believer in encouraging children to enjoy books at an early age and she delights in sharing books with Andrew, her first grandchild.
