Patrick
Hayes describes himself as an Irish Brummie living and working
in Birmingham. Son of a Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer and a farmer's
daughter from County Galway, he was educated at St Phillip's Grammar
school. He then went on to obtain a degree in English and Drama
at Digby Stuart College of the Sacred Heart, (University of London).
After securing a Post-Graduate Course as
a teacher he returned to his native Birmingham.
One Morning in May is Patrick's fourth publication by Brewin Books.
Originally, a Playwright his YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED and BUCKETS
OF SUNSHINE both won awards at the Birmingham F.A.M.E. festivals.
He
is also a professional actor and can often be seen in the area
performing "Murder Mysteries."
He has also directed professionally, his finest hour being in
Warsaw, Poland, where his production of Jim Cartwright's TWO was
so successful that it returned by popular demand.
At present Patrick is a Community Arts Worker and Spanish Tutor
for Birmingham City Council and as well as writing short stories,
plays and television scripts, he also enjoys studying Spanish,
French, and Celtic and Creation Sprituality. He is a member of
Pax Christi, a Catholic Peace and Justice group. He has trained
as a referee for Association Football and is an "Aficionado"
of the Irish National Football team, Deportivo La Coruna of Spain
and Aston Villa!
