How
did a jazz trumpeter and a struggling beginner journalist, both London
bred and born, come to have an Organic Market Garden in the early Fifties
in a rural part of Kent? Owen and Iris Bryce bought a derelict farm
with the idea of having a beautiful rural caravan site. However with
Planning Permission taking some two years to obtain they started to
grow their own vegetables. A few chickens were bought and then like
Topsy it just grew. This is the story of not only a change
of plan but a change in their way of life one that no money could
ever buy.
